Miguel Jiminez
Father. Fighter. Founder.
Three-time Grammy-nominated songwriter. A father who fought the family court system for years to be with his sons. The man who built FathersCAN so no father has to fight alone.
"I didn't start FathersCAN because I read a statistic. I started it because I lived the statistic. My boys needed their father. The system said no. I said watch me."
— Miguel Jiminez, Founder
From the Courtroom to the Mission
Every part of this organization was forged in real experience.
Los Angeles
Where It Started
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Miguel built a career in the music industry — earning three Grammy nominations and a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music. But behind the accolades, the most important title he ever held was "Dad."
The Fight
When the System Failed
When Miguel's family was torn apart, he entered the LA County family court system believing the truth would be enough. It wasn't. He faced a system stacked against fathers — judicial bias, ignored evidence, a process that treated his bond with his sons as something to be earned rather than protected. For years, he fought through hearings, filings, and a bureaucracy that seemed designed to break him.
His Sons
His Boys
Through every setback, every courtroom disappointment, every night spent away from his boys — Miguel never stopped fighting. His oldest needed his father's advocacy more than anyone knew. His youngest needed his father's presence. The system said wait. Miguel said no.
Georgia
A New Beginning
After years of battle, Miguel relocated to Georgia with his sons — finally together, finally rebuilding. But the scars of the system stayed with him. He knew his story wasn't unique. Millions of fathers face the same impossible fight. And most don't have the resources, the knowledge, or the support to survive it.
FathersCAN
Turning Pain Into Purpose
FathersCAN was born from one father's refusal to let his experience be wasted. Every program, every resource, every piece of legal guidance on this platform exists because Miguel lived through the absence of it. This isn't theory. This is testimony.
What I Believe
These aren't mission statements written by committee. They're truths I learned the hard way.
The system is not designed to help fathers. We are.
Family courts across America operate with decades-old biases. We exist to level the playing field.
A father's presence is not optional — it's essential.
24 million children grow up without their father in the home. Every one of them deserves better.
Redemption is real. Second chances are earned.
No matter what brought you here — incarceration, addiction, bad decisions — your children still need you.
Skills create stability. Stability creates families.
When a man can provide, he can show up. Our trade programs give fathers the foundation to build on.
A Message to Fathers
If you're reading this, you're probably in the middle of the hardest fight of your life. I know because I've been there. Sitting in courtrooms where you feel invisible. Missing birthdays. Missing first days of school. Wondering if the system will ever see you as more than a check to write.
I want you to know something: you are not alone.
I built FathersCAN because when I was in the trenches, there was nothing like this for me. No one to explain the legal process. No one to help me find work that could support my boys. No one who understood what it feels like to have your children taken from you by a system that was supposed to protect families.
Today, my sons are with me. We're building our life together in Georgia. It took years. It took everything I had. But we made it.
And I'm here to make sure you can make it too.
